  • Question

  • I have a 7 year old HP with Windows XP, my Media Player keeps crashing. Sometimes it just gives me the sign that it has to close but if I ignore it, it won't crash. What can I do to fix it?

  • Any detailed message displayed? Any record related to this problem in the Windows "Application" log in the Event Viewer?
You could try performing a full check of the system files: open a command prompt window and run the following command

    sfc /scannow

  • Simples! Find another 3rd party media player....or if you want to get to the bottom of why this is crashing attach a windbg to it, or from Process Explorer create a mini dump then inspect the dump to find out the exact reason.....have you looked through the even logs...?
