Outlook Contacts on Server Not Showing Offline RRS feed

  • Question

  • For one of three copies of Outlook 365 on three different PCs (same account), some contacts in the server folder are not showing in the offline folder. Specifically, Contacts Properties>Synchronization shows 884 items in the server folder, but only 808 in the offline folder.

    All filters have been cleared.

On the other two copies, all 884 items show both on the server and offline.

    Any recommendations for solutions appreciated.

  • Hi,

In this situation, it is suggested to start your Outlook in online mode and see if there is any difference. (File > Account Settings > Double click your account > Uncheck "Use Cached Exchange Mode to download email to an Outlook data file" > Restart your Outlook client)

Besides, a corrupted profile can also cause this issue, so it is also suggested to create and use a new Outlook profile via Control Panel > Mail > Show profile and see if there is any difference.

    Hope this can be helpful.

    Aidan Wang

  • Thanks for your assistance on this. I concluded that I had a corrupted profile as I tried various other options to no avail.

I resolved this by creating a new ost profile using various bits of advice from this source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/help/2752583/you-cannot-change-the-location-of-the-offline-outlook-data-file-ost-in

The new profile works fine. I did need to do a bit of work to return some aspects of the profile to where they were before, such as including my offline archive folder, but overall this resolved the issue fairly painlessly.
