How to migrate Project Server 2010 projects RRS feed

  • Question

  • Please provide detailed steps on how migrate a production Project Server 2010 projects to my test Project Server 2010.  I have built a 3-tiered (SQL DB, Application and Web Servers) MS 2010 SharePoint Foundation Farm in my test environment and configured Project Server.  I have created several test project files on my test Project Server and published.

Steps taken to migrate production to test are listed below.

Backed up the production databases in SQL Server

    • Production_Project_Server_Draft
    • Production_Project_Server_Archived
    • Production_Project_Server_Published
    • Production_Project_Server_Reporting

Migrated and restore the production database with Test prefix rename on the Test SQL Server

    • Test_Project_Server_Draft
    • Test_Project_Server_Published
    • Test_Project_Server_Reporting
    • Test_Project_Server_Archived

The site doesn't render after I make changes to the database.  Why does this happen and how do I fix it?

Within SharePoint Central Administration, I have to tried to provision an additional Test Project Server 2010 PWA instance but I get an error when it attempts to provision with instructions to review the log.  The log files (%PROGRAMFILES%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Logs) show several GET and PUT states with the web address but nowhere in the in the logs does it show an ERROR or FAILED.

    Very Kind Regards, Kevin Scott
