Can't connect Windows 8,1 clients to Essentials 2012 R2 server RRS feed

    Hi

    I have setup a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, and fully updated it.

    When i try to connect a Windows 8.1 client computer to the server using the http://server/connect client connector i get 2 errors in the application log on the server.

    ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0

    Event id 1309

    Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred. 

    and

    CertificationAuthority

    Event id 53

    Active Directory Certificate Services denied request 14 because The permissions on the certificate template do not allow the current user to enroll for this type of certificate. 0x80094012 (-2146877422 CERTSRV_E_TEMPLATE_DENIED).  The request was for CN=LAPTOP30.  Additional information: Denied by Policy Module.

    I have sucefully conneted both a Windows 10 and Windows 7 machine without any problems.

    Please help

    Hi,

    According to your description, my understanding is that Windows 8.1 failed to connect to Essentials with Event ID 1309 and 53.

    Which stage does the problem happen? And what is the error message? Such as access http://server/connect via browser prompts error, connector download failed, or failed when running Connector Configuration Wizard?

    Event ID 1309 seems to be a .net related problem, open Control Panel\Programs and Features to confirm the .net version that has been installed. Also, confirm that TCP/IP over NetBIOS is enabled on TCP/IP properties.
