Exchange Online - Shared or Public Folder Contacts - Outlook Address Book RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the midst of an Exchange Online trial.  The service seems quite promising but I have found a major drawback for our organization ... I cannot add shared mailbox contacts or public folder contacts to my Outlook Address Book (Outlook 2010).  Microsoft support informed me that this feature is not supported in Exchange Online.

    My questions are:

    1. Is Microsoft support correct or not ... is it or is it not possible to add shared mailbox contacts or public folder contacts to Outlook Address Book (in Outlook 2010 or other versions)?

    2. If this feature is not available, what is the reason why (both the technical reason and policy behind the decision)?

    3. If it is possible to add shared mailbox contacts or public folder contacts to Outlook Address Book, what is the procedure to do so?

  • YES!  Such a fundamental use case and there appears to be a policy blocking it.  Did you ever get your answer?
