WSUS FCS Detection Logic RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've upgraded one of my Windows 2008 R2 servers to the FEP 2010 client. WSUS is still detecting the need to install Client Update for Microsoft Forefront Client Security (1.0.1736.0). It appears that FEP 2010 removed FCS but something is still telling WSUS it's there. Can anyone suggest somewhere to look for any detection logic?

  • Hi Sandy,

    Thank you for your post.

You need to remove FCS from WSUS update products list.
    1. Open WSUS console
    2. Click Options--Products and Classifications
    3. In Products list, find and clear Forefront Client Security checkbox in Forefront tree

If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.

  • Hello Rick,

I will, eventually, however I still have a handful of FCS clients that we're in the process of migrating and I want them to continue getting def updates. I was hoping to figure out what to do on the client-side to prevent software scans from thinking FCS still existed on the system.
