  • I'd verify system and servicing health by running;

    sfc /scannow

    also system update readiness tool

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821

    Then check for errors in;
    %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

  • Dear Dave,

     - I ran sfc /scannow but it did not find anything.

    - Also as recommended by you, i downloaded the  system update readiness tool. But when i try to manually install this update then i am getting error : Windows Update Error 0xc8000222. I checked all the related Windows Update Services and they are running normally. When i am trying to do Windows Update, then the computer is giving an error while doing windows update as well. It is a Server 2008 R2 Standard (SP2). Kindly advise accordingly.

    Regards,

    Vikram.

  • Next step may be to try a repair install which I'm not a big fan of doing. The better option may be to stand up a new one, patch it fully and migrate roles or applications over to it. (2008 SP2 vista kernel) was notorious for servicing corruption issues.
