How to setup 2 NIC's in WIN10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently purchased a second NIC with a 550 controller chip for 10G access to my NAS.
I have been having problems getting it set up with a manually assigned IP address as opposed to using DHCP since I do not want my desktop to get confused with routing toward the 10G card.  I also eventually want to set up the NAS on a VLAN... but need to do this first.

When I put in the IP address 192.168.1.11 and subnet mask 255.255.255.000 and the Gateway which is listed on my router xx.xxx.xx.1 and DNS 8.8.8.8 and an alternate DNS 8.8.4.4, Windows 10 says it does not except these?

I tried using the gateway that the router uses... is the one given by the ISP.. WIN 10 does not let me enter anything saying that there is an error in one of the fields... but it does not indicate which one?

    What could be my problem?

    Any help is appreciated
