Unable to initialize new USB HDD WINDOWS 10 Professional RRS feed

  • HELP!!

Cannot find an area to ask questions regarding Windows 10 anywhere on your site. Maybe I am missing something.
however, I have an issue when attempting to initialise a NEW external HDD.
Error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check) and cannot get past this point. All the articles I read on this error assume that the drive has previously been used and NOT a new drive. There is not a Drive Letter assigned to this drive.
Have literally wasted my whole day trying to resolve this issue without success.

How do I resolve this issue?

  • You probably need to format it, it could be fat32 or other format, as well as your hdd, you need to check the format type  (MBR or GBR)
