The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service (II) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Searching on FAST Content was working fine until...

I changed the FAST Query SSA 'Account for Administration Service' account to another service account. I then got a The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service message so I changed it back to the previous account but the message is still displayed. I then restarted the SP server and still get the same message. I then restarted the FAST server and no change. Could anyone please advise me on what to do to get this back up & running?

    Thanks, Shane

  • This case was caused by an out-of-sync password on the account running FAST services on the FAST server. The account password had been changed ok but the login credentials for the FAST services on the FAST server still reflected the previous password. This meant that the FAST services on the FAST server were not running hence the problem.

    Shane's tip for the day:

If you get this message, first check that the FAST services on the FAST server are running and if not, take any remedial actions to get them running then try again.
