Project Online: integration with outlook (via hosted exchange) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a client who is looking to sign up for MS exchange online.

They will be using their own version of outlook (2007 or 2010) instead of office 365.

They are looking to use Project Online and integrate tasks with outlook.

My question is, does project online integrate with hosted exchange / outlook the same way for tasks, as it does when you use Project Server 2010+ and exchange.

  • Hi IGWind,

Firstly Project Server 2010 and Project Server 2013 do not integrate in the same way with On-premises Exchange Server - and Project Server 2013 will only integrate with Exchange Server 2013.  On premises you get the task integration but also get the new out of office integration.  Project Online will integrate with Exchange Online as long as you are in the same tenant - but you do not get the out of office integration.  It makes no difference if you use the browser or Outlook for your mail.

Just for reference you cannot get any Exchange integration unless both Project and Exchange are either Online or On-premises - no mix and match between online and on-premises.

    Best regards,

    Brian.
