AppData/Roaming size when using per user App-V 5.0 deployments RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are beginning to deploy App-V packages per user using SCCM 2012.  One thing we notice is that roaming profiles start to explode in size as the appv cache ends up in AppData/Roaming.  Is there a method to move this or what would the damage be in terms of exluding it from the roaming profile?

    Thanks

  • The App-V 'machine' cache shoouldn't end in each user's RoamingAppData, but (by default) in ProgramData instead.

RoamingAppdata only should include files and configurations that would be placed by 'classically installed' applications into RoamingAppData anyway, so the space consumed should be roughtly the same.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\App-V\Client\Integration holds the values IntegrationRootGlobal and IntegrationRootUser, defining the location for changes made by the application.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\App-V\Streaming: PackageInstallationRoot hold the information about the machine specific cache.

  • Great, thanks.  I guess the issue actually is that traditionally we exclude folders like Appdata/Roaming/Firefox from the profile.  Now we will need to add extra entries to the exclusion list for apps deployed with App-V.
