Access NAS music in Windows Media RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have been through the forum and read multiple posts for the same issue but as they are old and have had "answered" applied I am hoping the Microsoft team can provide an update as to their current thinking based on user feedback over developers thinking.

As a user with multiple devices in the home running multiple operating systems and apps (Android, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 phone, Windows 10, iOS, Kodi, PlayStation) I want to be able to store my audio / visual files locally (non cloud)

So that I can view and play them from any (multiple) device(s) simultaneously without a dependence on

    • a Windows operating system
    • a reliance on an internet connection
    • the need to have a PC constantly running
    • having to pay for enough cloud storage (close to 1TB and growing).

As this was previously how it worked I am yet to see a genuine user experience reason why the new way is better for me. The fact I can map the drive, view all of the content and open / manage individual files from within windows, means I do not see why an app is unable to perform the same simple task.

Has anyone been able to workaround this annoying issue?
