SC 2012 DPM - SharePoint Site and Site Collection Separate Backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there!

I have two questions related to backing up isolated elements of the SharePoint 2010 infrastructure using SC 2012 DPM

    1. Is there a way to backup selected SharePoint site collection(s) free from the entire farm?
    2. Is there a way to backup selected SharePoint site(s) free from the entire farm or site collection?

    Thank you very much!

  • Hi Jennifer,

This is not possible. DPM protects SharePoint at the farm level. Once protected you have the option to restore site collections or sites without restoring an entire farm.

    Hi SSA,

Yes you can. DPM has Item Level Recovery of SharePoint so you can drill down to find what you need to restore.

  • Additionally, Site level collection is not available here in the reporting panel.

A couple of things. If you just configured this it takes some time to enumerate. Also if your SharePoint VSS is not healthy you can run into issues. Also what screen are you looking for this on? I don't know what you mean by reporting panel.

  • Thanks once again for such a quick response.

My Sharepoint VSS is healthy .

Now when in Recovery Panel of DPM 2012, I am trying to recover my specific site i am unable to view it. I can see only 4 DBs there as shown in the screen shot below.

Please advice or let me known if i am going wrong.

When did you first set up protection?
