Cannot add user to Office Sharepoint 2007 "No exact match was found" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our sharepoint site located on server 2008 EE x64 and SQL 2008 EE has stopped allowing additions of any AD users and gives "No exact match was found" either using the people picker or in the add users window. (site settings, people and groups, add users). Server 2008 OS has no trouble seeing these users on the domain but sharepoint cannot. Any ideas where I should be looking? thanks...

  • Go into your Central Administration site > Shared Services Administration and click on your SSP.  Go into user profiles and properties and check the status of last import.  Click on View import log and see if there are any errors.  Also, try clicking on View user profiles and see if you can find the user profile you were trying to add initially through the site.  I'd also check the Event viewer on your application server.  It sounds like you have a configuration/connectivity problem between your SSP and Active Directory.

The View import log is empty, I did not find the user profile(or any of the others I was trying to add) when I viewed user profiles. I have looked carefully through the event viewer on the application server, but to no avail. Your last suggestion was to check configuration/connectivity between my SSP and AD. Are you referring to the web.config file(s) and if so, which one of them and what should I be looking for(authentication, etc)? Many thanks for your help....

  • Hi,

You said you did not find users when viewed the user profiles, please try to start full import in SSP to check if you can see the users.

If you also cannot see the users, could you please tell me is the user from another domain?

Thanks for your reply.....I did try a full import but it only returned about a dozen service account names but no user names from that domain. We do not have a need to import user profile data from the domain and have not used it in the past. The users to be added are from the same domain as the server/site. I am able to add users by running -adduser option in stsadm but cannot from within the site or central admin.

  • Hi,

Because there is no error message in the import log, please try to check if the configuration of profile import is correct and it can connect to the Active Directory services.

For more information, please refer to:
