Group policy to change the short time

    General discussion

  • I am setting a group policy to change the regional settings, however on the DC i don't see a setting for the short time (which is the one Windows actually shows up on the clock located in the lower right part of the screen)

It only shows: time format, separator, a.m and p.m symbol

    This is on 2012 r2 / win 7

  • Use Group policy Preferences to achieve this.

  • I'm afraid this isn't correct, there is no "short time" setting on the regional settings GP. However, i was able to fix this by deploying a separate setting "Nation" that contains the country code of your location (which weirdly appears greyed out in the regional settings GP)

The fix is a registry setting:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\Geo\

    Name: Nation

    Type: REG_SZ

    Value: 249 (for Venezuela)

Setting the location sets the short time format i want, at least for my country.
