Standard program autorun techniques RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to find out standard locations in the Windows system, from where applications (not malwares) run automatically.
Some of the locations I've found are:

    1. Program menu > Startup
    2. Registry > HKLM\Software\....\CurrentVersion - Run, RunOnce, RunOnceEx
    3. Task Scheduler

Could there be more standard ways? If so, where and how?
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Download AutoRuns [1], inside the options, select "Include Empty locations" and scan your Windows. Now look inside the "logon" tab to see all locations where Windows looks for startup apllications.
