  • Question

  • I have Windows 7 ultimate.  I have always had issues updating Windows 7 ever since I went from Home --> Ultimate.  Current, I can update anything.  I noticed that my au.inf is missing.  I also looked at the CBS log and it looks like this: has the following error:

    Checking Manifests and Catalogs

    (f) CBS MUM Corrupt 0x000000000  servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows=ServicingBaseline-Ultimate-Package~31bf385ad364e5~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385.mum

    What can I do?

That usually means Automatic Updates service is missing, Please first run sfc/scannow to check if it can fix any missing or corrupted system files.

or someting is corrupted about the service in registry, if you have a similiar healthy system, open registry, locate to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv, export the key, and save it, then import it to your issued system, test the result again.

You can also try resetting update components.

How do I reset Windows Update components?
