Hi good morning,
I'm having issue with SBS 2011 backup, scheduled backup and manual backup fails with the following errors:
Backup unsuccessful.
A volume shadow copy services operation failed.
Unknown error (0x800423f0)
Event Backup
The backup operation attempted at '2012-07-03t16:20:23:815960900Z' has failed to start, error code '2155348061'.
Please review the event detail for solution, and then run the backup operation once the issue is resolved

SBS 2011 Backup Failures - A Volume Shadow Copy Service operation failed. Unknown error (0x800423f0)...
SBS is different than normal server operating systems hence, I would suggest you to post SBS queries in SBS forums ( if the above discussion doesn't help )

In short:
Reinstall the Windows Backup Feature and try again.
Also check the event logs after that and post here any eventual errors.
