Message during EMET installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • When EMET is installed on a Windows 7 via SCCM, a message (Interactive Services Detection) is flashed on task bar (disapper after a few seconds)  The event log shows that the message is triggered by "C:\Program Files\EMET\EMET_Conf.exe".

From the MSI, there are custom actions to run the below command.

    1. "C:\Program Files\EMET\EMET_notifier.exe" --InitEventViewerSource --silent

    2. "C:\Program Files\EMET\EMET_notifier.exe"

    3. "C:\Program Files\EMET\EMET_notifier.exe" --refresh

    Is the message avoidable?

  • Have you tried changing your package parameters around?  How are you deploying EMET through SCCM?  I'm using a Package Distribution and just use the flag to suppress notifications to the user as well as run with the highest rights whether or not someone is logged in.  I'm also using the command-line instructions to what the EMET read-me file say it should be:

    msiexec /i "EMET Setup.msi" /qn /norestart
