SCCM2012 - CcmSetup failed with error code 0x80190191 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can't get client push working. Getting these errors:

CcmSetup failed with error code 0x80190191

Failed to download files through BITS. Error: 0x80190191, Description HTTP status 401: The requested resource requires user authentication.
, Context: The error occurred while the remote file was being processed.
    .

I still have SCCM 2007 running with existing boundaries as I am trying to migrate. Is that the problem? I found an article similar from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2007 so I'm not sure if it applies.

    Site servers are 2008 R2

    GPO startup script is working.

    Ideas? Thanks!

  • Overlapping boundaries are supported and do not cause issues (speaking of content location boundary groups; boundary groups for site assignment should *not* overlap though), but the IIS auth error is unrelated IMHO. Have you made sure that all OS prereqs are met (e.g. Windows Authentication in IIS)?

  • I just enabled Windows Authentication in IIS... Let's see what happens. I'm frustrated as this was working about a month ago when I tested it to a limited group.

Didn't work. I restarted the default web site. Restarted server too. Enable basic authentication?

I found similar issues regarding bits authentication and WSUS but nothing seems to help yet.

Also, prior to the errors I'm getting these warning which are actually inaccurate...

  • I tested the connection in the default website\ccm_client path and it fails. It is successful when using my acct. The default was set to Application User (pass-through authentication). I never set this up before. What is the preferred option? I'm guessing this is the problem?

    Thanks!

That was it. I'm sure I didn't set this before. Will I need to do this for all of the sites? ccm_incoming, ccm_system, etc?

  • Hi,

What is the state of the BITS service ? Open the services console to check if the service is not started but is set to Manual for Startup type.

Also, you may be requiring authentication on your firewall or proxy.
0x80190191 translates to "The requested resource requires user authentication. "

Do other machines on this network have this problem?

  • BITS is running fine. Like I mentioned I think I had authentication issues in IIS. But I'm not sure how to enable the pass-through authentication as the test connection was not working. Any idea what I might be missing to enable the pass-through authentication in the default sites?

    Thanks
