AD RMS client supports MFG? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I was testing federation with AD RMS, and I was able to setup a one to one federation using AD FS 2.0 (both companies where customers of Office365, so AD FS 2.0 was a must), but when I tried to use MFG so we could protect documents with new partners without going the hassle of configuring a new AD FS trust.

Every document I've found about MFG and RMS uses the Exchange 2010 scenario but as we are customers of Office365 doesn't apply here, I want to know if there's some way to use the plain old AD RMS client, well Office 2010 programs, to request a license for the content protected by some other AD RMS server

So, we are doing something wrong or it's not supported to use AD-RMS Server <-> MFG <-> Word2010 Client, so better stick creating new federations for every new business partner

    TIA

  • Hi Sergi,

your RMS clients will go first to the RMS cluster URL and they will get authenticated there from AD or via ADFS.
