ACTIVE DIRECTORY RESOURCE POOL SYNCHRONIZATION RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

One of my client used to use the initials field in the resource center of Project Server 2010 with a custom value (3 letters). When the AD Synchronization ran, it did not synchronize the initials of the AD accounts in Project Server 2010 Resource Center and it kept the value manually entered in the Resource Center.

We migrated from Project Server 2010 to Project Server 2013.

In Project Server 2013, when the AD synchronization run, the manual entries entered by my client in the initials filed is replaced by the first letter of the firstname of the AD account. If we enter initials values in the initials attribute of the AD account, they are not synchronized to the initials attribute of the Resource Center. It reset this value (in the Resource Center) with the first letter of the firstname.

My client would like to keep the initials values in the Resource Center with the combination of 3 letters. I have 2 questions :

    • Is it possible to configure Project Server to NOT synchronize values in the Initials attribute of the Resource Center ?
    • Is it possible to configure Project Server to synchronize the value of the Initials Attribute of the AD account ?

I hope my explanations are clear and sorry for my english ^_^

Thank you in advance for your help,

    Sylver

  • The resource initial behavior you are describing is by designed.

There is nothing out of the box to control or manage this differently other than writing custom code and connecting code to the event handler.

  • Thank you for you response.

Will a PowerShell script running every day and synchronizing the initial resource from AD work or do I need a custom code ?

    Thanks,

  • I would write it using PowerShell, because PowerShell would be much easier and require less written code
