Best Practice DPM Server backup to Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I'm reaching out today to inquire on the best practice to backup DPM (The physical server itself) to Azure.

We are currently leveraging on-prem DPM to backup to disk, and then replicate that to Azure. With that being said, we are wanting to protect DPM itself. This leads me to my question.

Is it better to use DPM, to back itself up, and then replicate up to Azure. (I have been testing this, and it seems to affect performance of the server, which is raising a red flag in my mind.

Is it better practice to use the Azure Agent? (In looking at the agent, it doesn't look like it supports backing up SQL.)

Am I missing any alternative better ways to accomplish protecting the DPM server itself?

Thank you for any help or direction,
