What if no Wsus server is available - do client receive uopdates? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm at the moment implementing FCS on the organization, everything is working fine.

My question is, what if my wsus server (the one that gets the FCS updates) is down for some reason, do clients update via external world?
Can i point clients to update via windowsupdate.microsoft.com ?

    Best regards

  • Hi!

yes, there is a fallback option to go to Microsoft update if WSUS is not available.

If you take a look in the management console, on the policies tab. open a plocy and select the advanced tab. there is an fallback option.
By selecting this checkbox (and agreeing to the EULA) you opt-in to Microsoft update in stead of windows update because there are no FCS definition updates available on Winsows update.
