Using Hyper-V for SCCM Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is anybody running an SCCM environment on hyper-v?  We have some servers coming off warranty and are considering virtualizing certain pieces.  We are currently running a Primary Server (16 GB RAM, 16-way, 250 GB SAN connected app share with confgmgr install, OS drive in Raid 10).  SQL is on another similar box (smaller connected san drive).  We then have 4 DP's (similar but 450GB local raid 10).  Client base is roughly 16K fast connected (1Gb on the main wan).   We use soft distribution heavily (1000 packages, hardware/software inventory, software updates, and down the road osd).

I was wondering about installing the DP's on hyper-v.  Splitting the disks on the SAN wouldn't be an issue.  SQL I would definitely keep physical.  I'm not sure about the Primary (would act as the mp too).  I think I would be concerned about bandwidth from the dp's on the hypervisor box(es) and cpu/memory.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks
