Unable to access SharePoint via Windows Explorer RRS feed

  • Question

  • SharePoint website on Port 6690 for saving documents. Users are given permission only to particular libraries via active directory groups (default SharePoint groups are empty)
    1. When we access the site via windows explorer http;/sharepoint:6690/library1 - user can access
    2. When we access the site via windows explorer http;/sharepoint:6690/ - user gets an error, documents in this folder are not available. the folder may have been moved or deleted or .....
If we add the user to either of the built in groups i.e. Member or owner, then we can access the link http;/sharepoint:6690/
I think there are some missing permission on sharepoint system folders (_private,cache profiles,Formserver templates, lists,m,notification pages, published links, quick deploy items ...etc).
Can someone guide on how to give access to users from the http;/sharepoint:6690/ instead of accessing each folder and creating shortcut or network drive for each folder.
I want to achieve this because all these days \\fileshare was the only location users remember and access the files as required. I want to give same experience to user’s i.e. single link and access the files which they have permission configured just like file share.
