Exchange 2016 Hybrid Deployment - Tenanted Clients RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All

We are looking to setup our On Premise Exchange 2016 system into Hybrid mode with our Office 365 configuration.

We are currently a tenanted on premise environment, hosting multiple companies emails within our own internal domain.
Each company users an autodiscover SRV record to get their devices setup, as our primary certificate does not match their autodiscover.domain.com setup so an A/CNAME record causes errors upon errors.

While looking into the prereqs of Hybrid configurations, an autodiscover A/CNAME is required - for our own domain we have this configured but as listed above - none of our tenants ever can (unless we buy a new cert each time we onboard a new client).

I have been unable to determine with some googling, but will we be able to setup our environment as a hybrid deployment, with only users from our OWN domain (consultingit.com.au) being setup to communicate with office 365, and the others still existing in the on-prem configuration?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kamimak,

Per my knowledge, yes, a DNS domain can be registered in only a single Azure AD tenant, you can just add your own domain into your hybrid deployment.
