DPM for 40TB on tape drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are planning to use DPM Ent for SQL and Moss backups for a client. Storage needed for the next 10 Years is 40TB

We will have to unfortunately backup directly to Tape.

Is there anything i should know about regarding DPM. It will be able to directly send the backups to tape and not first to a share storage or a hard drive of some kind?

Secondly pretty sure it will but need to confirm 100%... It backups up SQL 2008 R2, Moss 2010 and Exchange online?

    Thanks!!

  • also, can you protect the systems every 15 min if backing up to tape drive.

"DPM protects SQL Server databases every 15 minutes"

  • Yes you can backup directly to tape but the frequency of backup can be maximum once per day.

Yes DPM can backup SQL 2008 R2, Moss 2010 and Exchange online.

Can you elaborate on what do you mean by "Storage needed for the next 10 Years is 40TB"?

"Can you elaborate on what do you mean by "Storage needed for the next 10 Years is 40TB"?"

You dont have to worry about that, All i am saying is that we expect the data that must be backed-up in 10 years is 40TB

    Thanks
