  • If you're going to run Hyper-V in a nested environment, you need to modify the VM.

    http://www.settlersoman.com/how-to-installrun-hyper-v-host-as-a-vmnested-on-vsphere-5-or-6/

Ideally, you'd only do this for labs and demos, not production environments.

  • You should remember to enable CPU virtualization features in BIOS (INTEL VT-x or AMD-V).

Also, remember that nesting hypervisors will influence your performance, so if it’s possible, please put that VM on an SSD disk.

More information can be found here: https://hyperv.veeam.com/blog/nested-vitualization-hyperv/

I assume your nested lab is for testing purposes so you might want to run existing ESXi virtual machines in Hyper-V. In order to do so, these have to be converted which can be easily done using free V2V converter https://www.starwindsoftware.com/converter/.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello,

There is no option to uninstall the services of Hyper-V in window server-2012.

Then it's likely one of two things:

    1. Your hardware doesn't support the ability to do this, or is not configured correctly.

    2. Your .vmx configuration file is incorrect.  Make sure you've get all the settings.

Here is another post with the information: https://www.derekseaman.com/2014/06/nesting-hyper-v-2012-r2-esxi-5-5.html

The above method does work if the settings are correct in the .vmx file.

What is your goal here? Demo, learning, testing?  This is an unsupported configuration by both Microsoft and Hyper-V.
