NLB exchange 2010 CAS Array RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to implement NLB in exchange CAS server. but not sure what requirement and configure need to do. Pls advise.

2x exchange CAS server with two NIC (one for public - 10.10.10.1, one for NLB - 10.10.10.2)

NLB's virtual name and address: CASARRAY, 10.10.10.10

Before configure the NLB, what is NIC setting ? such as default gateway, whether need register this address to DNS etc ...

I know NLB setting need to enable forwarding ..

    Pls advise. Thx

Be sure you plan this very well, I've been into some issues using this setup

  • What environment are you configuring in?  Microsoft Virtualization, VMWare virtualization, or Physical boxes? Unicast or multicast mode?

If VMware we ran into problem in ESX 3.5 and 4.X implementing Microsoft NLB.

    Articles if designing in ESX/VSPhere:

We ended-up dropping the multi-server CAS design; our enviornment end-up being to small for what we initially thought and the headache of designing it wasn't worth it.
