Pop up problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Facts: IE 10; Win 7; Toshiba Satellite: I began receiving a lot of Adobe Flash Player pop ups saying I needed to up date. They were very intrusive.  I went to Adobe site and asked question.  I was told to remove all Adobe programs plus go to the registry and remove all files there, then reinstall the latest Adobe update. This worked but now I get another popup saying an add-on WMD Scripting from Microsoft Corporation needs to be allowed.  This smells of Malware or Virus.  I ran AVG and MalwareBytes and found about 36 items. I still get the popup on every page including this one. However, I do not get the popup on any Google page. I would like to get rid of the popup as I don't think Microsoft is going to inform me of a need by popup...

  • Hi,

Thanks for your trust in Microsoft. In IE 10, we also provide a high blocker level in pop-up Blocker. Please choose the “High: Blocker all pop-ups” option in Tool>Pop-up Blocker> Pop-up Blocker setting>block level to check if the Pop-up still exists. To know detailed information about Pop-up Blocker, please refer to the following link:

To check if malwares cause the issue, please make a clean boot. If the Pop-up disappears, make a total virus killing with antivirus software. Here is a KB link about how to perform a clean boot:
