unix server are getting heartbeat alerts very frequently RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI Guys,

I need help in unix server monitroing in scom.

From last one week, on 2 unix servers, i am getting multiple heartbeat failed alerts. Its fluctuating every now and then.

Means, support a heartbeat failed alert is created and its getting closed in few hours. AGain after sometime, alert is generated again. I did the below things to resolve this:

    1. ask the unix team to restart scom agent :-scxadmin -restart

    2. Ask the unix team to stop and start CIM daemon server(this was mentioned in the resolution article in the heartbeat failed monitor)

    3. I even check certificate and run as a account. All are fine

    But no luck!!

When i tried to reset and recalculate the health of those 2 unix server, its becoming healthy of few seconds, then again the same alert and in greyed state.

Please help, what can i do to resolve this!!

    Thanks in Advance!!

  • Hi,

Please check if the following link meet your issue:

    https://operatingquadrant.com/2012/01/12/opsmgr-unixlinux-heartbeat-failures-after-applying-kb2585542/

Meanwhile, check if TLS 1.0 and 1.1 were enabled on your Management Servers and Gateway Servers. If not, enable them and see if it is working.

Please try the above steps and if any update, please let us know.

    Best regards.

    Crystal

  • Check what output are you getting for below winrm query from all management servers in the SCX resource pool when agent is healthy and greyed out-

    winrm enumerate http://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/SCX_Agent?__cimnamespace=root/scx -username:<UNIX/Linux user> -password:<UNIX/Linux password> -r:https://<UNIX/Linux server>:1270/wsman -auth:basic -encoding:utf-8

  • Hi,

To enable TLS1 and 1.1, we can try the steps in the following link:

    https://support.venafi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000431191-Disable-TLS-1-0-and-1-1-on-windows-server-

Please firstly backup the register keys and then do the above steps. If it is not the issue, please restore the register keys to change back.

Please try the above steps and if any update, please let us know.

    Best regards.

    Crystal
