Microsoft Word 2013 issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a few computers with office 2013. When they do a 10-20 page reports that include linked pictures that are 3-4 MB each, when they open up or work on one of the document that each image is linked to a file, When people who use word 2013 the processor (CPU) spikes up to 50%-75% and memory will go up from example 2GB to 3GB until they close the word file then everything goes back to normal.

The documents are saved as a DOCX, if we save it to a DOC, it seems the problem goes away. Also, for the images that are linked in the DOCX document, sometime if you leave the document open on one of the pages, the linked images shows up on the screen then disappears on the screen after about 30 seconds then it reappears again and disappears. It does this continuously until you close the document

  • Hi,

According to your description, this issue occurred with some particular Word files. This issue might be caused be some factors. Please try the following steps to narrow down it:

    1) Disable hardware acceleration in Word and check how it works.

    2) Try to test the files in Windows clean boot or in Windows safe mode (press F8 in the beginning of Windows start)?

    Windows clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    3) The user have no permission with some folder, thus, the user might get a Access denied to cause high CUP usage. Reference:
