Virtual Office2010 and Physical Outlook 2010 interaction RRS feed

  • Question

  • I require some guidance around a requirement for a customer, I have sequenced Office 2010 without Outlook for APPv, and due to issues with sequencing an Outlook addin we have deployed Outlook 2010 as a physical app. The problem is that the save and send as attachment functionality from the Virtual office does not work

Error is "No default Mapi client found" Please advise

I followed the guide for the full office however I require some direction on sequencing and packaging this way

  • Hello,

    This is caused by the fact that you have values in the following places;

HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail (or corresponding place for wow6432node)

If you remove those from your package - it can see the local mail-client

  • Hello,

During sequencing - did you have a mail client setup?

  • Hi znack

No i did not my assumption was that the virtual word would see the local outlook because of the "local interaction=true" step.So you advise having the outlook client installed locally when sequencing the app.............if so ,one quick question though do I do th install of the office sans outlook as well as the physical outlook installation during the monitoring state of the sequencing?

  • Hello,

Before monitoring - install Outlook and configure it as your mail-client

While monitoring - install Office and the components necessary

  • Hi

I do not have to create a profile? just set outlook as default mail client?

Also another issue I have run into is after I have installed outlook 2010,and then try to install the balance of office 2010 as part of the appv sequencing I am not able to kick of the custom installation of the setup, I get the repair, add remove features menu......
Do you know of a way around this?

  • Hello,

Try doing a manual install first, before attempting todo an automated one. When that is successfull - verify what you need to change inorder to get the automated setup working

  • Hello,

Have you determined what happens in the background when attempting to send and e-mail? Since there is an error message presented it should be fairly easy to determine what happens before the error is presented.

(I have seen mapi32x.dll been missing at a couple of cases)

  • If you're installing part of Office but virtualizing the rest, why not just install all of Office? What are you gaining by vitualizing half of Office?

This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or view of Microsoft, its employees, or other MVPs.
