Project Server and Reporting Services - SharePoint license RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I found information that during instalation Reporting Services in Integration mode on different machine in farm, which will be used by SharePoint and Project Server SharePoint binaries should be installed on that SQL server. Is this mean that for standard installation scenario: One server for SHarePoint and Project and one machine for SQL Server plus Reporting Services You should have two licenses of SharePoint 2010 Server?

  • You don't need to run SSRS in integrated mode on the SQL box. You can use your SharePoint box for that. The RS databases would still be on the SQL box. It's a better approach to keep your data layer separate from the application layer. But you would have to double check if installing SSRS on the SharePoint machine means extra licensing for SQL, since SSRS is part of SQL Server.
