C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log access denied

Question
-
I am running Vista Home Basic SP2. I noticed that my jpeg's would not open so I decided to do some investigation. I am running AVG free and many other malware, registry clean up, etc programs. I have run a full virus scan many times but nothing comes up.
So, last night I ran chkdsk, nothing showed as a problem
Ran sfc /scannow, the following file was referenced C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. when I tried to open the log I got a message "access denied"
Can someone please advise. My original problem was that my pictures would not open with a message c:\users\ so on could not be opened.

To find out what files it can't repairClick Start - All Programs - Accessories - Right click Command Prompt andchoose Run As Administrator. Type (or copy the below line and one blank lineunderneath and right click in the command prompt window and choose Paste)To view it-------------findstr /c:"[SR] Cannot" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log |moreTo copy to clipboard---------------------------findstr /c:"[SR] Cannot" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log |clip* The character preceding more (|more) and clip (|clip) at the end of eachline is the pipe character not an l (L) or a 1 (one). Press Shift + \ forthe pipe character, usually above the enter key.--..--"myevo3d" wrote in message news:0e3e3485-2955-4989-980f-a78358323cc5...>I am running Vista Home Basic SP2. This process would not work for me in Windows 8. I'm having the same situation, slow to reboot after making any changes to the system. So I ran SFC and cannot access the log.Thursday, August 15, 2013 7:36 PM

This is a Vista forum. Windows 8 may be differently implemented.
Specify what happened when you tried the procedure. Can't diagnose without data.
Or you can ask in the Windows 8 forum
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8?tab=QnA
You may want to say why you are running sfc.
