Using IME to type Japanese and getting nonsense RRS feed

  • Question

  • MS IME typing Japanese nonsense

I'm using a laptop with Windows 7.  I've been using MS IME to input English characters (Romaji) which then change to Japanese

hiragan or katakana and ultimately to Kanji.  However, there is a disjunction between what I type on the keyboard and what appears on the screen.

I have reinstalled (or reopened IME and gone back to English keyboard, then set it up again and played with all of the Properties).  Anyone have any idea?

Example of what happens: I type 'arigato' and get a string of the same number of characters in hiragana, but they are nonsense.   Anyone else seen this and fixed it?   Help much appreciated.
