  • Yes and to get even closer to SCCM without using it, you can install SQL express and use the database to further automate. I'd suggest picking up the latest copy of deployment fundamentals for a good step by step which includes pictures.

  • Technically ZTI requires SCCM. However you can provide all the wizard answers for an install that requires very little interaction. There are books on MDT that discuss this as well as blog posts. Internet search and you will find something.

    Yes all those things are possible.  You could use something to filter on like MAC address or UUID or Serial and have stuff pre-populated in your database (or use a web service with the database).  SCCM is much better at fully automated with WOL etc than MDT.  And fully automated MDT is not ZTI.  You will never truly not touch the PC during install unlike if you were using ConfigMgr.
