Skype federation not working with one of the domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have  Lync 2013 environment and Skype feeration works fine  except with one of the company say abc.com.

    Now abc.com users can see  our presence but we cannot see theirs.They can send us message but we cannot reply to it .

    So its one way federation.

    On collecting logs from lync edge server.Found following error

    Message was not sent because the connection was closed

    On collecting a netmon trace , our edge server is sending a Client Hello but  we recieve  ACK,FIN from other end..

    why would the abc.com  edge server respond with ACK,FIN for a client hello

  • Hi Avyan,

    Do you mean you do federation with another Lync organization (abc.com)?

    In my experience, there are three types: Open Enhanced Federation, Discovered Partner Domain, Direct Federation. Refer to: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/lyncserver/lync-server-2013-setting-up-lync-federation

    Please check which type of federation do you use in your environment.

    And please confirm the type used in the abc.com organization.

    According your description, it maybe a configuration issue in abc.com, please check the following DNS for abc.com, such as:

    _sipfederationtls._tcp.abc.com  ->  Access Edge FQDN

    sip.abc.com  -> Access Edge FQDN

    In addition, please make sure the port 5061 is opened on their edge server.
