default web sites missing exchange 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • After an resetiis command the default websites are shown in EMC but not in the IIS admin. Do i need to recreate them all or is there some way to reinitialize them?

  • what do you mean when saying "default websites are shown in EMC"

when the virtualDirectories are missing which are used by Exchange 2010 then you are able to create them with the command new-virtualdirectory.

  • That article doesnt apply to IIS7 but wouldnt i be able to create tehm from exchange? When i look under EMC i see OWA, ECP etcetra but when i look on IIS just the blank server with no websites. They are normally created during exchange installation and i was hoping just to delte them and recreate using powershell or EMC as i have little knowledge of IIS.

  • One more Silly Question for you ..

Does all roles Installed in this Server ?

Initially Why you wanted to do an IISRESET ?

Is You EMC is opening now ?

Cause It won't open if you don't have Virtual Directory in IIS

  • thanks the link looks very good.  As to the roles installed on the server the are CAS, HUB and Mailbox. I needed to do the reset of iis as i could not get into the emc or ems anymore. Now both work and as no users were yeton the server i figured the resetiis would be easier than trying to fix the certificate problem caused by importing the cert to the default website and not to the owa website.

  • You're not using the IIS6 Manager are you?  Exchange needs to install this for some reason, but you can't actually see anything when you run it.

  • i have run the commands and they all say they were succesful but when i open the iis manager i cannot see any default web sites? Did it fail or does it need a restart of the server perhaps?
