MMCSS (Multimedia Class Scheduler) Using Excessive Memory RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Not sure where this one belongs:

I have narrowed down some really excessive memory usage to the MMCSS service.  Right now only at 632 meg, but have seen it up around a gig of usage.  Anyone have ideas on how to get that number to a reasonable level?

    Using 32 bit Vista.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

How do you know this cause is MMCSS service? Actually, this service is started by Svchost and there are a couple of services in a same Svchost process.

I suggest you utilize Process Explorer to observe the threads and services running in that process, Maybe you could get some clues.

  • After much figuring, I did an "SC Config Servicename Type= own"

Ran support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe, so far so good.

Thanks for checking in with me!
