Problem sequencing SQL Management Tools 2014 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I'm using APPV5.0 SP2 to sequence SQL Management Tools 2014. Unfortunately when running the APPV package on the client, I get the following error:

Invalid license data. Reinstall is required

This seems a known issue (even with SQL MGMNT tools 2012). After some searching, I found out that it's related to a Visual Studio 2010 bug. A hotfix has been released (KB2526163) but won't install so this doesn't solve the issue.

Has anyone managed to sequence either SQL Management Tools 2012 or 2014?

    thanks for your help

    Gert

  • Hello,

I would raise a support ticket with Microsoft regarding the topic.

  • We tried sequencing SQL Management Studio 2014 with the help of Rory's recipe for version 2012.

    Works flawless !

    Thanks Rory.

  • Hello,

    Minor topic;

Which source media did you use?

  • We used the SQL Server 2014 Management Studio sources, not the full SQL Server binaries. Like Rory did in his recipe.

Product Name: SQL Server 2014 Management Studio (x64) - (English)

    Filename: en_sql_server_2014_management_studio_x64_exe_3941421.exe

Downloaded from the MSDN Subscriptions website.
