Migrate users from Windows Classic authentication to claims-based authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

Step 4 of the Project Server 2010 to 2013 Upgrade is required to upgrade users from Classic to Claims Mode authentification.

    (Get-SPWebApplication <SPWebAppPipeBind>).MigrateUsers($true)

When I have to upgrade several Project server instances from the same web application, do I need to run this step for each PWA upgrade or only once for the web application?

    Many thanks

  • Hello,

If all PWA instances are in the same web app and content database then they will all be migrated at the same time? If you have separate content DBs for each PWA isntance in the same web app then you could migrate them separately, in this scenario you would run the migrateuser command again.

As always, fully test the upgrade / migration process fully on a non production farm before carrying out the steps on prod.

  • Hello,

This is at the web application level so only once per web app.

  • But if we don't upgrade all PWA instances at the same time, should we run the step after each upgrade to ensure that the users for the upgraded PWA instances are migrated from Classic to Claims?

    Thanks
