Crawler not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running Sharepoint 2007 on Server 2003.  Below are some of the errors I get when trying to start a full crawl.

    In the cralw log:

SPS3://Server The system cannot find the file specified (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)

http://Server The system cannot find the file specified (Excception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)

In the event logs (Errors like below):

SQL Database 'WSS_CONTENT_xx' on SQL Server instance 'Serve\OfficeServers' not found. Addtional error information from SQL Server is included below.

Cannot open database 'WSS_CONTENT_xx' requested by the login.  The login failed.  Login failed for user 'Domain\Account'.

I've tried many recos but have been unsuccessul.  My next step I think is to delete the SSP and re-create it.

I am not sure what I may lose by doing so.  I have many 'managed properties' and I'm not sure if they will need to be re-created.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Does the database WSS_CONTENT_xx exist in SQL Server? Is it attached, online, and in muti-user mode?

  • Can you access any sites that exist in that content database?

  • Jason,

All the sharepoint sites are browsable it is just the crawler (and therefore Search) that is not working.

  • Does the crawl account have a Full Read user policy for the web application (Application Management -> Policy for Web Application)?

What account is DOMAIN\Account account you referenced? Is that the crawl account or some other account (to which you can explain)? Does it have any rights to WSS_CONTENT_xx?

Also, is the application pool account a db_owner of the WSS_CONTENT_xx?

  • Jason,

The crawl account does have full read access.  The Domain\account I reference is the crawl account and has db_owner role for the WSS_CONTENT_xx database.  The application pool account is a db_owner for the WSS_CONTENT_xx database. Again thanks for your help.
