  • Hi sebinjoz,

    Here I list your concern.
    1. What is actually happening when I click the compatibility button on IE 10?
Once you click the Compatibility View button , Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit.

    2. Which IE version it choose for my website at that time?
Compatibility View is a feature of Internet Explorer 10 that allows the browser to render the webpage nearly identically to the way that Internet Explorer 7 would render it.
For more information about IE 10 compatibility view, please refer to the following article.

In addition, we could set the version you want.
Please take the following steps to configure:
    1. Open IE 10 and press F12 to open F12 developer tools
    2. Click the Browser Mode and select the suitable version. Please take a look at the following shortcut.
