  • As I stated in that thread the Enterprise key does not seem to work.

  • That 'TH1 10240 build' key is accepted as a valid key (unlike the previous Enterprise build keys), but still activation fails: "Windows can't activate. Try again later."

All pre-release product keys published earlier for builds of Windows 10 Insider Preview have been deactivated and will no longer activate any Preview builds, including Build 10240.

  • Same Problem here, activation is not possible

  • I gathered that from searching the forums. However, all statements related to 10240 Enterprise for Insiders, assume that upgrading to 10240 through WU keeps the OS activated. In my case it didn't (previous build was activated, current isn't).

Since there are no Windows 10 Enterprise keys available at this moment for the 10240 (presumed RTM) build, I am stuck. Also MSDN subscriber downloads only shows Enterprise key for 10074.

  • Unfortunately, the only option is to wait until July 29th.  Please review the replies by Gab Aul.

  • It's logic because the Enterprise version is not a free upgrade.

The key posted here is the KMS Client key and requires a KMS Server able to validate the key.
It can't be used for online validation like Pro or Home.

  • Same problem my valid and activated MSDN key was deactivated after I installed a new build from WU

  • Tried to install the Key at our KMS server but got the error that the key is not valid. Maybe another hotfix is needed for KMS to acceppt the new Win10 keys?!

  • Which key did you tried on your KMS Server? The one in this post?
This a Client Key... You need a KMS Host key to install on your server<

For what I know actually, there's a hotfix (KB3058168) to install if your KMS Server is a Win8.X or Win2012/2012R2 to allow the KMS to validate new keys but there's no KMS Host key currently available.

  • I understand the issues/limitations around availability and validity of the Enterprise keys. However, my issue is that upgrading to 10240 (happend automatically) deactivated my Windows 10 system and now I have no way to activate it again for some time...

  • This article states "This will not impact any devices that were activated in the past using those product keys." But that's not true for every one. My activated system got 'de-activated' when upgrading to 10240...

  • Only for Windows 10 Home and Pro.

Final version of Enterprise requires a KMS or MAK key, and this is not free.

Also, there's no OEM or Retail version of Enterprise.

I think we understand that, the problem is that when I logon to our VLMS THERE ARE NO WIN10 KMS OR MAC in there. I have the same issue, full version of win 10 enterprise that Microsoft auto upgraded me to and no keys to activate it. Pretty sweet, and yes, we carry software assurance on all our software!

No, that will not work, you can't install an enterprise edition and activate it with a home or pro serial.

    Seriously??????????

It will not work.  You were told from day one that "enterprise" would not be eligible.  You need to revert to your previous OS

  • Thank you Zigzag and mgriggs. But what if I did a clean re-install and used the Home or Pro serial number? Did I'll be able to activate it? I'm in Windows Isider Program. Thank you.

  • I would say No because Insider keys are currently disabled...
