Upgrade to SP2 is breaking custom Content Types RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently on SharePoint 2007 SP1 with a Server Farm Installation.

We have some custom built Content Types which are used for uploading documents with a set of custom properties / metadata.

We recently upgraded to SharePoint SP2 and we have the following updates in place :

    WSS 3.0 SP2

    Hot fix – 975002 for wss 3.0 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971500/)

    MOSS SP2

    MOSS SP2 Oct 2010 CU

After the upgrade everything works fine except for the content types, the existing documents retain the metadata / properties but when we upload new documents the metadata/properties are reset to the default values while saving the document. e.g., if we select the content type of the uploading Doc to be say MyCustomContentType  which is inherited from a Base Document Type called “Document” , the uploaded Doc gets saved with the Content type as Document.

The Hot fix -975002 for WSS 3.0 claims to be resolving this issue but it doesn’t.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
