Azure dirsync tool - Windows Azure Active Directory Credentials not authenticating RRS feed

  • When running 'Windows Azure Active Directory Sync tool Configuration Wizard', I get an error when entering my Azure administrative account and password on the second page. Error text "Configuration error - Your credentials could not be authenticated. Try again or contact Technical Support." I can open up IE 11 and log into my Azure trial account with the very same set of credentials. I have repeated this several times to make sure I wasn't fat fingering account name or password. No success.

    Test Environment (running dirsync tool on):
        Windows Server 2012 R2 VM (fully patched)
        Joined to a test domain "DOMAIN.LAB" (not publically routable)
        All .NET 3.5 Features installed (4.5 installed by default)
        Installation of dirsync tool completed successfully, no reported errors

    dirsync tool version: 1.0.6862.0
