MSPP 2010: Custom Filter Using Project Status Date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have created a custom date field to pull the Current Project Status date with the goal of using this date in custom filters.  The custom date field works as expected but I receive an error when trying to put it into a custom filter:

and here is the filter I am trying to create:

I can't figure out what I am missing that is preventing me from saving this custom filter.

    Thanks for your help!

Just out of curiosity, I tried to create the filter you have tried to create.  And like you, my attempts failed.  Apparently the Status Date field is one of those few fields that you cannot query in a filter, nor can you insert it as a column in your project.  So, in essence, I do not believe you will be able to create and use this filter.  I would speculate that your recourse might be to write some VBA code to do the comparison.  Hope this helps.

  • Thanks Dale!  I was able to create a custom date field to show me the status date.  I used the formula:

    DateValue([Status Date])

Is there a limitation when trying to use a custom date field?

Where I am ultimately trying to go is to build a View that automatically applies the "Before Status Date" (from the Date field AutoFilter) to the Baseline Finish column.

Do you have any thoughts or experience building views like this?

Clever trick, my friend.  No, I am not aware of any limitations.  And I have no additional thoughts about building a view such as the one you are describing.  Sorry.
